Overview

CK-12 is an online application dedicated to increasing access to high-quality educational materials for K-12 students all over the world. For safety, CK-12's policy notes that your first name and your general profile will be public for other CK-12 users to see, but not your last name, email address, birth date, and your login password. CK-12's policy promises they do not knowingly share or sell your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing use. To access all of CK-12's features, a registered account that is password protected is required. CK-12 states in their policy they recognize the need to provide additional privacy protection for children on the CK-12 platform and to register a user must be 13 years or older, or if under 13 years of age, they must get consent from their parent, guardian, or teacher.

Security

CK-12 provides a privacy policy that notes that CK-12 maintains a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of personal information against risks such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure. The policy provides that by registering as a member or otherwise providing CK-12 with an email address, CK-12 may send users important administrative messages, such as security breach notices required by law.

Compliance

CK-12's policy states they recognize the need to provide additional privacy protections for children and to register a child must be 13 years or older. If a child is under the age of 13, CK-12's policy says they must get consent from their parent, guardian, or teacher.
