Overview

Vector is a home robot with interactive technology and a product of Digital Dream Labs (DDL). The terms indicate users are able to interact with other users through the services. The policy states users are able to post user submissions to the service and that DDL does not regularly review user submissions, but reserves the right to remove or edit content at any time. The policy specifies DDL collects personal information such as name, birthdate, email address, phone number, street address, billing information, and IP address. The policy denotes DDL may share data with third parties and that third parties may collect data through the use of cookies. The policies affirm the service can be integrated with social media networks and information can be shared and posted to social media profiles. The policies note users may opt-out of interest based advertising by emailing DDL. The policy confirms reasonable security measures are taken to protect personal data; however, the policy does not indicate if all data in transit or storage is encrypted or if users will be notified in the event of a data security breach. The policy affirms the services are intended for users of all ages and that DDL will only collect personal information from children as is reasonably necessary to provide the services. The policy affirms verifiable consent is collected for users under the age of 13; an email will be sent to parents and if not confirmed within 14 days, the account will be deleted.

Vector can be accessed through its website. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use used for this evaluation can be found on Vector’s website. This evaluation only considers policies that have been made publicly available prior to an individual using the application or service.

Safety

The policy notes that profile names and user submissions may be publicly visible to other users. The policy also states users may have interactions with others outside of the service through third party links; DDL is not responsible for any interactions with these third parties.

Privacy

In addition to the personal information listed above, users should note the policy states health data may be collected such as medical conditions, disabilities, and biometric information imagery of the iris, retina, fingerprint, face, hand, palm, vein patterns, and voice recordings; sleep or exercise data may be collected as well. Furthermore, the policy affirms DDL collects behavioral data about a user's browsing history, search history, and inferences drawn from personal information profiles reflecting a person’s preferences, characteristics, trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities and aptitudes. The policy also states sensitive data such as signature, social security number, passport number, driver's license number, bank account number, credit card number, debit card number, or any other financial information. Furthermore, other sensitive information collected includes race, ancestry, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, and political affiliations may be collected. The policy confirms DDL may share personal information with third parties for business purposes such as to process payments, provide accounting, or store and process information; furthermore, data may be shared for testing, research, and analysis. The policy states third parties are bound to keep personal information confidential and adequately protected and use it only for the purposes for which it is disclosed to them. The policy affirms personal data may be transferred in the event of the company's merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy.

Security

The policy states DDL may share data with third parties to verify the accuracy of personal information. The policy does not indicate if multi-factor protection is used for user accounts. While the policy does not indicate if all data is encrypted, the policy does confirm that payment transaction data is encrypted.

Compliance

The policy indicates users are able to post or upload content to the service and that users are responsible for any and all user content. The terms state users retain ownership of user submissions, but do grant DDL a license to translate, modify, and reproduce user submissions. The policy states users can contact DDL to modify or request a copy of personal information or user account. In addition, the terms declare that parents have the right to consent to DDL's collection and use of personal information from the child without also consenting to its disclosure to independent third parties.
