30hands Pro is an app to create digital stories and presentations, to allow students and teachers to easily explain concepts using principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The app is designed to start simple and iterate to more complexity. The terms state if the user is a student, teacher, or faculty member they have the ability to chat with other students, teachers, or faculty members through private messages. Users should be aware that any personally identifiable information they submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of the forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. In addition, the terms of 30hands Pro state they do not sell student information or use student information for behavioral targeting or tracking of advertisements to students.
The terms specify the service maintains a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of student personal information against risks – such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure – through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Lastly, the terms state parents, teachers and school administrators have the ability to edit students profiles at any time by logging into their accounts and choosing the students account they wish to update. If a student is under the age of 13, a parent or legal guardian must give consent for the child to use 30hands.
The privacy evaluation is independent from the Common Sense edtech tool review. Privacy evaluations are designed to clarify how a service protects information, which will allow people to make informed decisions before using a tool with students.
