Overview

Dailymotion's aim is to offer the best video experience for online viewers. Dailymotion does not moderate content or interactions, but it does note in its policy that users can report inappropriate content. The terms say that Dailymotion uses ad tracking, third-party marketing, and behavioral advertising to support its service. Accounts are required for access to certain features, for example, to be able to upload videos and access some other features of the Dailymotion service, the user will need to first create a Dailymotion account and have their email address validated. If the user has an online account with Dailymotion, then their policy indicates that they will have the ability to review and update personal information online by logging into the user's account, and can also review and update personal information by contacting Dailymotion.

Dailymotion can be accessed through its website, and is available for download at the iOS App Store, the Google Play Store, and/or Amazon Appstore. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use used for this evaluation can be found on Dailymotion’s website. Additionally, other policies used for this evaluation include: Cookie Policy and Child Safety. This evaluation only considers policies that have been made publicly available prior to an individual using the application or service.

Safety

Social interactions occur through social media, for example, the policy explains that when you choose to share information with social networking services or single sign-on services about your activities on the Dailymotion Service, such as videos you watched or “liked” on Dailymotion, information about you and your activities may be shared with that social network or single sign-on service. Dailymotion does not moderate content or interactions, but it does note in its policy that it is open to reporting of inappropriate content.

Privacy

Dailymotion explains in its policy that they may collect personal information that can identify the user directly, such as name and email address, and other information that does not identify the user directly. In order to access certain services from a mobile device, the policy notes that Dailymotion may collect a device’s location data (limited to the city level only). The policy notes that Dailymotion uses ad tracking, third-party marketing, and behavioral advertising to support its service. In addition, the terms say they sell users' data to third parties, but not including data of users under the age of 16. Dailymotion's terms say they take steps to limit access to sensitive information from or about users to only those Dailymotion employees, agents, and contractors who have a legitimate business reason to access such information.

Dailymotion's policy does not address what would happen if it had a data breach or data disclosure .

Compliance

Dailymotion's policy indicates that children under the authorized age in their country of residence (“Junior”) are not permitted to register with Dailymotion without the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. If the user has an online account with Dailymotion, then their policy indicates that they will have the ability to review and update personal information online by logging into the user's account, and can also review and update personal information by contacting Dailymotion.
