Overview
LinkedIn is a social network for job seekers, professionals, and businesses. The terms say LinkedIn allows viewing and sharing information including through posts, likes, follows and comments. When you share an article or a post publicly it can be viewed by everyone and re-shared anywhere, but the service provides user settings to help control the visibility of posts. The terms say LinkedIn uses data about you (such as your profile, profiles you have viewed, or data provided through address book uploads or partner integrations) to help others find your profile, suggest connections for you and others and enable you to invite others to become a member and connect with you.
The terms say LinkedIn does not sell users' data to third parties, but LinkedIn may still display targeted advertisements to users based on their personal information and how they use the service. LinkedIn's policy says third parties may also track users on the service and on other applications and services across the internet over time for commercial and advertising purposes. LinkedIn's policy says they use reasonable security standards to protect the confidentiality of a user's personal information and use encryption. Lastly, the policy says the service is not for use by anyone under the age of 16.
LinkedIn can be accessed through its website, and is available for download at the iOS App Store, and the Google Play Store. The Privacy Policy and User Agreement used for this evaluation can be found on LinkedIn's website. Additionally, other policies used for this evaluation include: Cookie Policy, and Notice for California Consumers. This evaluation only considers policies that have been made publicly available prior to an individual using the application or service.
