Overview

Discovery Education and Mystery Science are online education service providers that produce and deliver digital content for K-12 education, including Pathway to Financial Success in Schools which provides tools to teach students key financial success skills, including lessons, educator guides, and videos. The policy explains the service encourages an open exchange of information and ideas and social media sites; users can interact in chat rooms, forums, blogs, and other public posting areas. Furthermore, the policy states users are solely responsible for posted material and that the service does not monitor or filter postings or user interactions. The policy specifies personal information including full name, email address, username, user image, phone number, payment information, and parent/guardian name and contact information may be collected.

Users should note Discovery Education may share personal information including name, unique personal identifier, IP address, email address, job title, usage details, profiles reflecting a user’s preferences, characteristics, behavior, abilities, and aptitudes and device details with third party service providers. The policy confirms cookies and third party ad networks display targeted marketing and advertising on Discovery Education's websites and track users across the internet on other websites. Furthermore, the policy says that Discovery Education may use pixel tags (including ones placed by third party vendors such as Smartlook, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn) to advertise the services on other websites and social networks. Lastly, the policy states users must be 13 years or older to register an account and confirms verified parental consent will be collected before Discovery Education will collect or disclose personal information.
