Safety

Sesame Street's terms state they do not make personal information collected from children publicly available or enable children to do so. However, Sesame Street's terms do not state whether they allow social interactions between users. Sesame Street's terms recommend that involvement in your family's online lives is one of the most important safety tools available, and they encourage parents to educate themselves and their child on privacy concerns under COPPA with resources they provide.

Privacy

Sesame Street's terms state they do not require a user to submit any personal information to use its activities, but do allow for the collection of personally identifiable information and collection of non-personal information automatically from cookies and similar technologies. The terms also state that third-party service providers are given access to a user’s information only as is reasonably necessary to provide the services for which they are contracted, and are required to follow the terms of Sesame Street's Privacy Policy in their handling of personal information. Lastly, the terms state there is no behavioral advertising on the service using personal information, which means users will not see any advertising that is targeted to them based on their combined activity on the service and their activity on other sites and apps.

Security

The terms state that Sesame Street maintains technical and organizational tools to keep information secure, including limiting the number of people who have physical access to their database servers and use of electronic security systems and password protections to guard against unauthorized access. In addition, the terms state that if Sesame Street believes the security of a user’s personal information has been compromised, they may seek to notify a user as promptly as possible with their provided e-mail address. However, the terms do not state whether the service uses reasonable security protections such as encryption of personal information while in transit or at rest.

Compliance

The terms of Sesame Street state they will not condition a child's participation in any activity on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity. In addition, Sesame Street's terms state they will obtain parental consent before asking for personal information from children, unless the request for information falls within an exception that would be permitted under COPPA. The terms also specify that parents may contact Sesame Street to review, update, or delete any of their children's personal information that has been collected, and may request that Sesame Street not collect any additional personal information from their children.
